Robin was easy on the camera. Her bold eyes are enticing and her Native American heritage is evident in strong cheekbones. Aside from her personal beauty, the backdrop was breath-taking. Warm evening light bounced from the turquoise and blues of the canal below, which richly complimented her brown skin. As a photographer I thrive in these moments. Robin is often very self-conscious, and frequently comments on her weight and appearance. During the shoot she told me that she usually hates having her picture taken. My challenge in this shoot was to translate the beauty that I see in her, in such a way, that she might accept it. I focused on who she is and then, her appearance. The face of a woman, sharp, intelligent, energetic. A strong representation of her identity.
